Amou's PTSD is caused by experiencing killing and dead first hand as everyone has expected. I'm quite surprised the story uses this plot quite late in the game, though; because he already experienced dead of people closed to him since Ep. 4 but... Well. Whatever.

So every one in this show is sus and now you can't even trust your own father, huh?

Kitsune Arashi • 1 year ago

To be fair, having someone die infront of you and actually killing that person kinda hits different, not to mention if people who used to look at you with happiness starts looking at you in fear... it would feel even worst.

Düölingöhhh Snorlax • 1 year ago

Ikr. It's not like they just stepped on the turd. They're already knee deep in the dung pit at this point.

Kirito • 1 year ago

Killing someone is a different feeling he had no choice he could have run but he saw his buddies die and amou panic when he shot those FBI's then those kids eyes saying pathetic to amou they're so disappointed at amou

Handsome desu • 1 year ago

i thought the same, he was shouting and panicking like shit and those kids just experienced horror and it's not like they were looking at him specifically with contempt! jesus and it was his fault that she was riddled with bullets cause he fell pathetically and when he was about to be shot he was in a panic state so yes i think those kids were kinda disappointed too cause the woman was looking after them and after being shot he still hesitated and was pathetic.
I thought something bad had happened.

mhboy • 1 year ago

It not only the experience of dead people, at that point of time. he got his "first" killed face to face and the kids expression that show fear instead of support. It showed how different they actually view him. So the mentality is total different.

It quite obvious that the businessman have other sponsors. but seriously, i starting to hate the watt or whoever guy. Now his action is starting to piss ppl off. It will be great if he got abandon and destroy. the only good things is he still want manned machine rather than AI the rest of his character just goes down hill.

Kirito • 1 year ago

Amou panicked and he killed those FBI's without hesitation and now that red hair guy is blackmailing the gym guy for effing another woman she's blonde

Anime & Rutabagas • 1 year ago

Nooooooo RIP that female caretaker T^T

Judgment526 • 1 year ago

Like it's the only gripe I have in this show now tbh :')

Handsome desu • 1 year ago

Lmao facts exposed, first was also an onee san who was killed and coincidentally she was close to him like older sister and now here too lol.
His new name should be "Harbinger of Onee-sans" lol.

Kirito • 1 year ago

And because of that he doesn't want to talk to his old friends and is always quiet amou is sad

Billy Bob • 1 year ago

thought she was just shot in the shoulder unless another one

Astolfo-kun • 1 year ago

Amou shot that enemy directly in both eyes, also using blackmail to avoid a budget cut

Kirito • 1 year ago

So amou killed 2 no 3 fbi people without hesitation until he ran out of bullets then those nakama guys finished it all and the kids is scared of amou and that's why he's wearing a black shirt now

Kirito • 1 year ago

That explains why amou can kill people now and is wearing a black shirt i miss that yellow shirt but black shirt is good though

Billy Bob • 1 year ago

hello darkness my old friend

Jakk Frost • 1 day ago

I disagree. This in no way explains how Amou goes from shooting in panic and fear to coldly executing a helpless enemy combatant.

I have no problem with the execution itself, just that it doesn't fit Amou's character. It's not enough to push him that far. In fact it would push him the other way, make him hesitant in combat.

I was expecting all the kids to die, or at least the three who were attached to him, THAT would be enough to explain it.

Amano erika. • 1 year ago

So now we finally know the cause of Amou's PTSD. Tbh I thought those kids were going to die. Those masked dudes were ruthless.

🔥SkyHigh🔥 • 1 year ago

One of them seemed to be dead or injured at the very least

Kirito • 1 year ago

The fbi found out that amou is with those lol is and amou has no choice but to shot those fbi he didn't have a choice it was a do or die situation said by that guy he's face is kinda funny in that scene

Judgment526 • 1 year ago

Amou sure had pretty good aim for someone firing in a panic...

Thank god the kids made it out alive. I was so certain they'd be dead by the end of Amou's flashback.

Anime & Rutabagas • 1 year ago

It looked like one kid was down for the count T^T

Judgment526 • 1 year ago

I was unsure if the one lying down was dead or just injured/passed out, but you might be right. :(

Billy Bob • 1 year ago

dang i missed that

Ohms Nuttachai • 1 year ago

Yeah. I thought that was the cause of his PTSD also.

Handsome desu • 1 year ago

what the hell lolol XDD

Annecy Change • 1 year ago

I see why he like this. But I guess it good thing he get into this already now he can just kill anyone, but I hope he open up and stop closing himself to people around him.

wwlaos • 1 year ago

That backstory was much more tame than I had expected. :|

Not that it wasn't traumatic, but... I was honestly expecting it to be far darker.

LesK • 1 year ago

i'm 54 seconds into this episode and i already know Amou's two buddies are dealing with this all wrong. one of the vets of their group should have taken those two aside and told them how to handle this. keep a respectful distance, give quiet and unjudgmental support, and WAIT for Amou to talk about what happened. FORCING somebody with PTSD like this, normally causes the patient to withdraw even FURTHER.

if Amou isn't talking about it, he's still internalizing what happened. he's not ready yet to externalize and 'share'.

Handsome desu • 1 year ago

lol but they're in war and anytime they might have to engage the enemy and if their minds are worried about Amou's state and not in right minds they'd be dead and all over lol.

Jerome W Bison • 1 year ago

8:46 Oof, Lol!!!
19:09 Well I'll be damn!!! Didn't see that coming.
21:15 I see Brad working on his new extortion skills he learned from German Gobert.
21:57 Wow!!! Didn't expect GoT levels of treachery like this.

Kinda figured it was combat related PTSD that Amou is suffering from. It was already there from the first half we he saw Risa Kōzaki killed in that attack from Ghost in Part 1, Ep 4 at 1:20.

But what went down on the island has been intensified. Thing about PTSD, it strikes people differently and they are no easy answers. Not to mention, in some cases, it never fully goes away. Pretty much, you have your good days and bad. Not to mention, triggers that can set off the anxiety.

One thing is for certain, that kid that we all knew from the First Half, he's still there, just with a lot more baggage that he may can handle.

Just a passing by bear • 1 year ago

That smug face of his just makes me mad. I really hope they all get kicked out of the country by the end of this season.

Glinda • 1 year ago

Poor Amou 😢He went through so much ... why is he crying in the next episode? 😕
I feel bad for the American captain with the red hair, although he is an enemy, but his father betrays him himself ...

TheDoubleDeuced • 1 year ago

The American captain (Brad Watt is his name) seemed like a good guy, and I was getting a little worried that he was going astray of his own accord. But dang, German and his own dad...

Kirito • 1 year ago

There's a lot of fbi here in this episode

My boy had big struggles. Thought all the kids died when I first saw them, glad they didn't.

Jerome W Bison • 1 year ago

Same.

Ben • 1 year ago

Well now I know why he's such a emo that doesn't shy away from killing.
Also those two ruskies are like an odd married couple honestly...

mhboy • 1 year ago

I have to say this season 2 is way better than season 1. even the story telling ep was more enjoyable. They bring in more decent fight scene too. the character development was much faster also. There is so many different things happening in this ep, it seem like the war finally starting when they starting to gather all the ppl to fight. At least there will be a decent fight rather than 1 OP machine running the whole season but no development.

Düölingöhhh Snorlax • 1 year ago

at least half of the kids should have splattered everywhere for that juicy PTSD :3 but then again, adults shooting adults, not kids :(

Phoenix Feng • 1 year ago

how anime did PTSD 10 years ago, seeing your family blasted by bombs and the only part of ur younger sister LEFT
is a piece of her hand that covers in a pool of blood. Amou already been on the battle field, him getting ptsd now from killing just feels too late

tevan • 1 year ago

Seeing people dead and actually killing would definitely be two different things

LesK • 1 year ago

yeah, you're talking out your butt there. no PTSD case is the same. they. are. all. individual. human. beings.

i'm a combat vet. i've seen stalwart stoic types turn into bawling snotty babies over something that a wussy primping prince just got a case of the shudders at. the two guys were standing right next to each other when it happened.

i've seen folks with offices deep inside sturdy and undamaged buildings dive under desks and cower in fear at a gunshot obviously over a mile away.

i've walked patrols along the streets of Baghdad a few months after the invasion and watched kids running, screaming, laughing, playing tag and hide n seek amongst the wreckage of their neighbors' houses.

i've seen a teen boy, probably a little younger than Amou, walking with his dog and a herd of goats. the road we and the boy met upon was surrounded on both sides by entirely destroyed buildings. he casually grinned at our patrol and waved enthusiastically to give us a thumbs' up as my fellow soldiers and i stood amongst the wreckage to let the boy and his goats pass us. he yelled happily, "Thank you USA!" and herded his goats away.

man i knew amou was perfectly fine but i would love it if this happen to him

After the explosion of Ghost amou was alive but his body was badly mangled. Like a chuck of his chest taken out and had brain damage and so on..

So what they did was they used tech to repair him making him sort of a cyborg and one of his arms was gone.

In order to save Amou Gai decides to use himself as a scarfice for the part of Amou's brain so Gai die and yet Amou lives, but Amou has to live with this new fact of life Gai is no longer around hes been disfigured and almost handicap and on top of that he can now kill people with little remorse trying to deal with all of that.

Man, it feels a bit late to be pulling the "pEoPlE dIe WhEn yOu KiLl tHeM" PTSD card. I would've understood much earlier in the series, but at this point? Would've thought MC had already gotten past this roadblock. They've been at war for a while now.

Marty McFly • 1 year ago

16:25 ummmm, what expressions? The ones on their masks?......................

Geez! Is this guy going to mope for the rest of the season!?! I hate MCs like this. He only killed one, and there is no need to feel guilty for exterminating insects that kill civilians and children.

Zosha • 1 year ago

Those eye shots were probably the coolest thing Amou did in the series so far, which is pretty amazing considering this is a Mecha series
